Kent County Council
Brief
Portsdown were one of two suppliers asked to tender for the furniture procurement at a Social Services building in Dover. With a difficult refurbishment process taking place furniture was left a fairly critical timescale and both companies were asked to put together a layout design and product selection, not just for this project, but as a blueprint for a wider ‘Better workplace’ initiative to be rolled out to key locations within Kent County Council. As well as using the space innovatively, the brief was to provide solutions to large filing capacity as well as products to allow the environment, and workforce, to work in a flexible manner.
Our solution
Using our experience and knowledge in this sector and our Smart Working process we put together a design proposal and furniture solutions document which has now been adopted as the new KCC standard.
Implementation
With a tight deadline, Portsdown worked closely with Client and fit out contractor to ensure all items were delivered to site within the timescales. Product solutions included Mobile racking, Individual lockers, touchdown benching, Mobile meeting solutions and Relax / breakout spaces. With the building now completed and successfully occupied, Portsdown are taking the success of the office to a wider audience and helping KCC to implement this further within their property portfolio which will further help to enhance their workspaces and better utilise the office space they accommodate.
