Reading Borough Council
Brief
We were recommended by Hampshire County Council to Reading Borough Council, who wanted to replicate the successful and environmentally conscious working environment created in Winchester. Two hundred staff were to be accommodated in the new building, flexible desk, locker and storage space were of the utmost importance with 25% of staff sharing workspace.
Our solution
We specified Steelcase's cost effective and flexible Kalidro range with new Partito screens and tool rails with binder holders and filing trays to keep the desk space free and clear. Steel storage was provided with individually lockable shared units for filing and flexible workers along with ‘Smart’boxes. The unique ‘Think’chairs provide the ultimate in comfort and easy adjustment for all size users.
Implementation
Portsdown completed a filing survey of four sites around Reading to ensure the storage internals would accommodate the varied items. Sample chairs were demonstrated and tested by the staff before final decisions. Installation was completed precisely on time and smoothly after such careful planning. IT suits, large training rooms and conference rooms were all installed along with offices over four days by Portsdown's skilled installation team.
