Classrooms of the future
Brief
Our brief was to create a model "classroom of the future". This model was to allow the students, teachers and support staff to get used to and assess the new ways of working that may be implemented in the new school. The room needed to be designed for 32 year 7 pupils being taught combined studies, which ranged from drama to humanities to art & design.
Our solution
The furniture was chosen to enhance different pedagogies of teaching and learning such as one on one work, small group work, independent study, and whole class teaching. The furniture was also varied, allowing a full assessment of the different products, and a review to take place before the final order was placed for the newbuild. This project supported the change management process within the school and gave the teachers and students the ability to begin using the technology, furniture and equipment which will be standard in the new school; thus reducing the necessary training requirements closer to occupation
