The National Gallery

Portsdown installed workstations, meeting rooms, collaboration spaces and social areas across 6 floors of this prestigious refurbishment project.

Client Profile

Portsdown were successful in securing the project within a competitive tender, providing design, consultancy, and product supply across a range of spaces.

Description

Working under Covid lockdown conditions, our team of designers and consultants supported the Gallery through an on-line engagement process, assisting in developing the architects high level concepts into reality.

As the core office space for a world leading gallery, design and materiality were of key importance, along with ensuring that team locations and facilities matched the needs of the end users. Our designers worked closely with the client project team to develop a number of bespoke furniture solutions and ensure the product selections matched the heritage and design of the listed building.

As lockdown eased through the process we adapted the project from three stages, to be completed in a single phase, closely managing a challenging installation location with limited vehicle access and under site conditions.

The result is a wonderful and engaging space, with quality furniture and a palette of colours aligned to the works of art located throughout the building
